Share Volentia content and post your Volentia status updates to Facebook directly

Monday, March 8th, 2010

One of the great tools built-in to Volentia is the ability to share Volentia content with other social platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

You can share Volentia content – like a photo, video, event, blog, a discussion or even post your status updates to Facebook directly from Volentia.

The first time that you are posting to your Facebook account, you will be asked to connect to your Facebook account. Although your Facebook account information is required to connect to Facebook, it will not appear anywhere on Volentia.

After entering your Facebook username and password, Facebook will ask if you want to allow Volentia to publish your posts. Click on the Allow Publishing button to continue.

Sharing content on Facebook directly

Once you have connected to Facebook, you can post content to Facebook by clicking the Facebook link displayed on any content detail page.

You can add a personal message to the post before publishing it.

Your post will then be displayed on your Facebook Wall, News Feed and your friends’ News Feeds.

Since Volentia is a private network (members have to log in to see content), you are able to share content, but your post will not include thumbnails or descriptions of the content.

Sharing new content you’ve added on Volentia

When you are adding new content on Volentia, you can also share the content on Facebook. Check the box next to the Facebook icon and add a personal note or use the default one that’s already there.

Posting your status update to Facebook

To post a status update from your Volentia profile page to Facebook, check the box next to the Facebook icon below the Status Update bar. Click Update to post your status.

If you decide to use a different Facebook account to connect to or remove your current Facebook account, head over to My Settings page by clicking on the Settings link and then click on the Connections link. Click on the “Connect as a different user” link and you will be signed out of your current Facebook account.

To connect to a different Facebook account, click on the Connect with Facebook button. If you do not want to Connect to Facebook for the moment, click on the Cancel button.

The next time you want to share content or post a Status Update to Facebook, you will be asked to connect to your Facebook account again.

Approve comments on your Volentia blog before they appear

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

You have full control over the comments that other people post on your blog posts. By default, any member of Volentia can comment on the blog posts you write on Volentia. You can change this default setting so only your Volentia friends can comment on them, or allow only yourself to comment on them if you’d like.

You can also choose to approve comments on your blog posts before they’re published. This means that when someone comments on a blog post you’ve written, it will not appear right away. You can review the comment and choose to approve or delete it – before anyone else sees it.

To choose who can comment on your Volentia blog or to turn on comment moderation for your blog, click on the “My Settings” link in the right column of the social network. Head to the “Privacy” tab to locate these settings related to comments on your blog posts.

If you’ve turned on comment moderation on your blog, you will be alerted that you have comments awaiting approval when you log on to Volentia. You will see a yellow box alerting you to the content under the “Hello!” box on the right side of the page. Click the link to view comments to your blog and approve or reject them.

Tag your blog posts

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

You can categorize any blog post you’ve written by adding tags to it. Tags will allow you and other members to easily see what the post is about and find related posts.

You can add tags to your blog post when you’re writing it. You can also add tags once you’ve published a blog post by clicking the “Edit Your Tags” link next to it.

See what your blog post will look like before you publish it

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

To see what your blog post will look like, click the “Preview” button at the bottom of the post box when you’re done writing your post.

If you’re happy with the way your post looks, make sure to click the “Publish” button at the top of the page. If you want to work on it some more, or save it for later, click the “Back” button to return to the compose page.

Edit your blog post

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

You can definitely edit your blog entry after you’ve posted it! To do so, go to your My Page tab. Click the “My Blog” link at the top of the page and then click on “Manage Blog” on the right side of the page.

Drafts will be indicated by a pencil icon in the column to the left of the post title. Click “edit” next to the post you want to change. This will bring you to a screen where you can make tweaks to your post.

You can also approve or reject comments, edit drafts or published posts, or delete blog posts from this page.

Start your own Volentia blog

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Blog posts are a great way to share stories and express yourself right on your profile page. While threads in the social network’s forum are about community discussion, your blog is about you.

To get started, go to your profile page and locate the “Blog Posts” module in the middle column. Click the “Add a Blog Post” link.

You can add text, links, and images to your blog post using the blog editor toolbar. You can also select the privacy of your blog post to allow anyone on the social network to view it, just your Volentia friends, or just you.
