Do I need a Facebook, Twitter, Flickr account to be a Volentia member?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Absolutely not ;)

The Facebook, Twitter, etc apps are just there to make your life easier if you happen to have accounts with those services, and you want to post content to several websites at once.

You are welcome to use the apps, or not.

If Volentia asks you to login to your facebook account you can simply click on the Cancel button if you are only going to use Volentia.

Share Volentia content and post your status updates to Twitter directly

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Volentia now offers you the ability to post your status updates to Twitter. You can connect your profile on Volentia to Twitter.

To connect, check the box next to the Twitter icon in your Status bar or click on the Twitter link under your information on your Profile Page.

Next click the “Connect” button in the “Connect to Twitter” window

Connecting to Twitter will bring up the Twitter sign in page, where you can enter your username and password for your Twitter account.

After submitting your username and password, Twitter will ask if you want to allow Volentia to access your account.

Clicking “Allow” will redirect you back to your Profile Page on Volentia.  You can now post your Volentia status updates to Twitter!  If you are including a link in your status post, you have the option to shorten the URL by clicking the “Shorten URL” link in the pop up box.

You can choose not to shorten the URL by clicking the x to close the pop up box.  However, you will not have the option to shorten again without refreshing the page.  Click Update to post your status to Volentia as well as Twitter.

Once you have connected to Twitter, you’ll also have the ability to share/post Volentia content to Twitter using the Twitter link displayed on content pages.

Why am I not able to ask more people to be my friends?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

If you find that you cannot add someone on Volentia as your friend,  you might have too many outstanding friend requests. You’ll have to withdraw some of your outstanding friend requests before you can invite new people to be your friends. (We cap the number of outstanding friend requests that members can have to prevent spam on the network.)
